Massage Therapy Services

Massage therapy originated thousands of years ago and has since developed into a recognized therapy for the treatment of orthopaedic and neurological disorders. Licensed massage therapists are extensively trained in the safe application of manual mobilization of soft tissue and trigger points. Remedial massage therapists working at Creekside have graduated from a school of massage therapy with a minimum of 2,400 hours of training.

Who covers Massage Therapy?

  • Most private insurance providers cover a percentage of the costs associated with massage therapy. The amount may change depending on your plan and provider. Please check with your plan before your appointment.
  • Private insurance plans may include:
    • Blue Cross
    • Great West Life
    • Green Shield
  • Direct Billing to most insurance providers
  • Manitoba Health does not cover Massage
  • Massage is not covered by MPI or WCB

Referral Process

Your doctor can facilitate the referral process, or you can book directly. If referred, diagnosis should be clearly identified for private insurance coverage consideration.

What does a typical visit consist of?

Your visit starts with a brief history and physical assessment, which will provide much needed information for your treatment. This information allows the therapist to determine which areas need addressing and if you are a candidate for massage.

What types of massage are available?

You choose the duration (30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes) and the type of massage you want; Therapeutic, Relaxation or Specialty.

Therapeutic Massage is designed to determine dysfunction within the body, to target and treat specific muscular groups and return the body to “Homeostasis” or balance.

Relaxation Massage is a massage that is designed to promote relaxation, and increase circulation in the body. It is also excellent in decreasing tension in the muscles, as well as increases the body’s natural lymphatic drainage.

Specialty Sport Massage is offered both pre and post-sporting event. Techniques will be used to facilitate and enhance performance prior to exercise as well as facilitate recovery post-exercise. Therapists are also available on request for off-site sporting event massage. Please inquire for further details.

Specialty Pregnancy Massage treatment techniques addressing the stress and pain often associated with pregnancy are available. Positioning is carefully planned during the treatment to aid in pain-reduction and consideration of your baby.
